Waiting…

It occurs to me that this is essentially a waiting time for me. What I need is patience, and trust, and I have never found those things easy.

Persevering in Christ’s teachings, by patience we participate in his sufferings, but we will also partake in his kingdom. Silence is a central foundation for such a life.

(No Moment Too Small: Rhythms of Silence, Prayer, and Holy Reading, Norvene Vest, Cowley Publications, 1994)

In returning and rest you shall be saved;
   in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.

(Isaiah 30.15)

Hi Mike, I hope everything is ok.
'Now in the small hours of belief the one eloquence to master is that of the bowed head, the bent knee, waiting, as at the end of winter for one flower to open on the mind's tree of thorns.' (Waiting, R S Thomas)

Thank you, Andy... That RS Thomas quote is perfect!

Yes, OK. Feeling somewhat autumn, but OK...

That Isaiah quote is amazing, isn't it?

Yes, the waiting stretches, doesn't it. Feels like you could snap sometimes, in the waiting :)

All I can say is that I am more or less in my own way accompanying you on this journey, or at least on my parallel one.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It's raining here, too.

Hi Mike,

I've been away from the blogosphere for quite some time and have recently returned. I scanned back awhile and understand you've had a major change in your life. I also notice how the Lord has kept you close to his side.

Keep waiting in joyful hope...that's the Franciscan way. Peace and all good.

Thank you, all of you, and thanks too to the ones who prayed but didn't leave a comment!
