Sad catblogging...

Poor Figgy, dearest faithful little black cat, has gone. She had a thyroid tumour, and her kidneys were failing. She was around seventeen, so she'd done well. Jan held her at the vet's, and she purred all the way to Heaven, to catch up with Scottie and Dusty and Mindy and Mable the Dog and all her old friends.

It's hard for us humans, outliving so many of our furry companions on the way...

  1. I'm so sorry. It is very hard to lose these dear friends. I had three Maltese doggies die in my arms last year. Two were fosters (Molly and Teddy) and the third one was our first Maltese, Poppy. Not a day goes by that my husband and I don't think of Poppy. Our Maltese and fosters have a blog at http://poppypage.blogspot.com. Our first pet after we married was an adorable cat named Casey.

May God give comfort to you and Jan.

  3. How lovely that Figgy purred her way into heaven! These precious friends give until the end, as did Jan and you. My prayers for you and yours who have outlived dear Figgy. May memories of her companionship warm your hearts always!

  4. It is very very hard isn't it. When we lost our first two cats Mr GP always said to try to remember the happy times and the wonderful life they had with us. But of course, it's still heartbreaking.

  5. "... and she purred all the way to Heaven ..."

Oh, how lovely for you all to have her leave in that way.

I love one of the postcards on Postsecret this week. It says something like, "I've heard when you die all the animals you've ever loved come rushing towards you to welcome you." I'd like to think so too :)

    I'm sorry, Mike.

  8. Oh, I am so sorry. I felt as if I knew Figgy since you sent greetings from her so often. May she frolick in kitty heaven and nap happily and peacefully in the realm of angels.

Love and prayers to you and the family, two-legged and four-legged.
